Rider Checklist

We recommend that you bring no, or as few as possible, valuables on the tour. We cannot take responsibility for valuables lost during the course of the tour.

Personal Kit Checklist:

• Fleece blanket • Pillow • Towel • Torch / headlight • Personal toiletries • Beanie and scarf & gloves for evenings • Warm clothes • Casual clothes for after shower • Slops • Earplugs

Your Bicycle:

Pre-race Preparation:

It should go without saying that your bike should be in perfect working order at the start of the Cape Country Unplugged. It might be subjected to severe riding conditions because of weather fluctuations in the Western Cape, and we recommend that you replace any old parts that may not survive the distance. The use of tubeless tyres is highly recommended. Check your slime levels and if necessary, top up slime. A dedicated bike mechanic will provide repairs and servicing at the finish each day, which is for your expense.

Equipment checklist:

Helmet (no helmet no ride) • 3 sets of cycling shorts and tops • Wind breaker • Gloves • Sun glasses • 3 sets of cycling socks • Cycling shoes • Hydration pack with space for spares • GPS /Heart rate monitor – bike computer (optional) + Chargers • Go Pro’s for clip of the day • Slime/Stan’s, bomb and adaptor, plugs etc, • Gators, pump • Brake pads, drop out, chain, links • Lube • Chamois cream •  Favourite energy bars, gels and snacks
